Mobile Language Team Strategic Plan
(2025-2032)
The Mobile Language Team (MLT) is dedicated to the revival and maintenance of 47 Aboriginal languages across South Australia and to promoting the use of Indigenous languages to Close the Gap in health, education and employment outcomes for Indigenous people.
By outlining the MLT’s vision and priorities for the period 2025-2032, this plan provides a framework for growth, sustainability, and increased impact.
This document is informed by UNESCO’s International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032 and a two-day MLT staff workshop in August 2023 facilitated by Professor Simone Ulalka Tur, Pro Vice Chancellor (Indigenous) at Flinders University, and led by Uncle Trevor Buzzacott OAM (Chair, Mobile Language Team Aboriginal Policy and Advocacy Committee). Importantly, it is also informed by numerous consultations over fifteen years with the custodians, speakers and learners of this state’s Aboriginal languages.
